LD/ADHD School Workshops
An extensive menu of workshops on topics relating to Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder Workshops are available to parent groups, schools, and organizations.  Workshops are presented by trained volunteers with considerable experience and expertise in the subject area.

Workshop Topics:

1.    Introduction to Learning Disabilities - Identification of learning disabilities and strategies for parents or teachers that help.

2.    Learning Strategies - Specific, proven techniques for the classroom teacher regarding learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder.

3.    Classroom Modifications - Techniques that are appropriate for children with learning and attentional problems so that the curriculum does not become diminished.

4.    ADHD: Identification & Strategies For Home & School - Characteristics of Attention Deficit Disorder and strategies for parents or teachers that help.

5.    The IEP Process For Parents & Educators - The components of the IEP (including goals, objectives, and benchmarks), parent's rights and responsibilities, the IEP meeting, and implementation of the individualized education plan.

6.    LDA Simulations Workshop - An interactive workshop which simulates the fear, anxiety, and tension children with LD and ADHD experience in the classroom. This workshop creates a great deal of awareness for parents and teachers, and is good to use as a first in a series of LDA workshops.

7.    Motivational Strategies - How to help children with learning and attentional problems become more motivated at home and in the classroom.

8.    "I Have a Kid Who..." An informal panel discussion and questions and answer session with three speakers, including a parent, an educator and a counselor.

9.    Disability Awareness for Children - A workshop for K-5 children to create awareness for children with differences.

10.    Positive Behavior Management for Home or School - Specifics of behavior as they relate to children with learning and attentional problems. Participants will learn techniques for determining the message of the behavior and making the changes in environment, programming and communication that will assure success for all children.

11.    Homework, Study Skills, & Organizational Techniques - How to help a student become more successful by using specific techniques relating to study skills, organization and time management.

12.    What Is a Language Processing Disorder? - Presented by a speech and language pathologist, this workshop details what to look for concerning processing deficits in school aged children.

13.    Early Warning Signs of Learning Disabilities - Characteristics and development of children in the preschool years with emphasis on the uneven development in specific areas which may indicate future learning problems.

14.    Understanding The Sensory Sensitive Child - Behavioral characteristics of sensory processing disorders and strategies for dealing with them.

15.    Social Skills For Students with LD/ & ADHD - Social deficits associated with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. Participants will be given tools for teaching and developing social skills with these students.

16.    Observation Techniques & Data Collection - Easy, effective techniques for observing and keeping records to support your findings.

17.    Preschool Teaching Techniques & Methods - How to address specific learning and behavior concerns in the preschool classroom.

18.    Is It Auditory Processing, A Language Impairment, or Attention Deficit Disorder? Characteristics of the three disorders, the overlapping symptoms, and strategies for home and school will be discussed.

19.    Medication Issues for Children with Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD – The different types of medication used for children with learning disabilities and ADHD and their use.

20.    Supporting Special Education Students in the Regular Education Classroom - The characteristics of children with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, and language disorders and how this affects their performance in the regular education classroom.
